Mike At PlayI like to work hard and play hard. The following links will show a
bit of the few things I like to do outside of the office. I have been
a Sierra Club trip leader for the last 20+ years, and lead Service Trips in the Southwest US a couple
times a year. I also participate as a Trenton Computer
Festival volunteer (and have been doing this for the last 30+
years). |

I am addicted to Sierra Club Service trips. These are trips where
you *PAY* to slave away doing manual labor in some of the most
wonderful places on the planet. It is not for the timid or someone not
willing to leave the path most taken.
Specific information on (and some pictures from) past
trips can be found below. Information on (and availability of) current 2011 service trips may also be found
below. For more information on other available Sierra Club trips, check
out www.sierraclub.org/outings.

This year I lead THREE service trips to my beloved Southwest.
The first will be a return to Arches National Park in the spring. This
trip starts on May 8th and runs to May 14th, 2011. A full trip
description can be found HERE.
The second trip will be a reprise of our popular Dixie trip, up in the mountains, in the pine forests of the southwest corner of Utah (in lovely Dixie National Forest). This trip starts on July 31st and runs to August 06th, 2011. A full trip
description can be found HERE.
And lastly, but definitely not least, is another wonderful Dixie Family Archaeology service trip in July. This trip is for kids between the ages of 8 to 16 with an adult or guardian along for the ride. This trip is a perfect introduction to camping and usually fills up fast. It will run from July 10th to July 16th, 2011. A full trip description can be found HERE.
I expect to lead only one service trip to my beloved
Southwest in 2012. It will be another Arches work and wonder trip sometime in May.
The Dixie National Forest, our host for 15 years will not be able to support any visits from us in 2012, so we will give it a rest for one year. This will give me time to hunt down a few more places for our successful Family / kid / geology service trips in the Southwest.
This is a list of past service trips that I have staffed, most as
leader (links mean there are pictures to check out). Just look at the
fun we have had!

Trenton Computer FestivalIn 1985 I discovered the Trenton Computer Faire (now Festival), at
the Trenton State College in New Jersey. The first few years, I was
just a wide-eyed consumer. And boy did I see some great things. And
the best things were always in the "Flea Market" area. Finally I hooked
up with one of the volunteers from one of the several computer clubs
that were the backbone of The Faire, and have participated ever since. I
have followed the TCF from location to location (and finaly back to the place of its birth - Trenton, New Jersey).
For more information on this year's Festival (including dates and
directions), check out www.tcf-nj.org.
